Jackson County 

Jackson County is divided into three separate commission districts, each electing one County Commissioner, who work together to serve the needs of the county’s 12,657 civilian population. Holton
Holton has a City Manager/Commission form of government with five Commissioners elected at large serving three year terms. The Mayor is chosen by the Commissioners after the April election each year.


The City of Holton owns its own electrical power plant and distribution system which supplies electricity for the City and surrounding areas within a three mile radius. The Prairie Band of Potawatomi Nation
The Prairie Band of Potawatomi Nation is located in southern Jackson County. A sovereign nation, the Nation’s members elect their own 7 member Tribal Council. 


The Tribal Council is responsible for authoring the nation’s laws and policies and to serve as the decision making authority for tribal budgets and investments.
